On 12 April, LUO Jing, the Deputy Director-General of the Dept. of
Science and Technology, State Administration of Cultural Heritage, visited the
International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage
(HIST) hosted by AIR, CAS.
LUO first toured the Miyun Ground Stations real-time operation
center and watched videos introducing the Digital Heritage Science Platform. He
and other representatives also visited the international organizations hosted
by AIR and held a meeting with AIR Director-General GUO Huadong.
GUO thanked the delegates for their support in the construction of
HIST, and spoke about the prominent role of space technology in heritage
monitoring and archaeology. Afterwards, HIST Deputy Director and
Secretary-General HONG Tianhua and HIST Deputy Director WANG Xinyuan introduced
HIST’s current progress and research work. Both parties exchanged thoughts on
how to better develop project cooperation in future.
Under the framework of strategic cooperation between the State
Administration of Cultural Heritage and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, LUO
explored possibilities for collaboration between the two organizations. It was
agreed that remote sensing in archaeology had been increasingly accepted in the
discipline through the efforts of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and State
Administration of Cultural Heritage, particularly by demonstrating that remote
sensing technology possesses advantages in identifying and dynamically
monitoring heritage sites. Both parties expressed their desire to continue to
deepen scientific and technological cooperation and develop related
technological research.
