Delegation from UNESCO Beijing office visits HIST

A delegation from UNESCO Beijing Office visited HIST on Monday, February 13 to view the facilities and hold discussions on further collaboration in areas of common interest. The delegation of five included Ms Himalchuli Gurung, Head of the Culture Unit,and Mr Hans Thulstrup, Program Specialist for Natural Sciences. They were welcomed by Mr. Hong Tianhua, Executive Deputy Director and Secretary General of HIST, who then gave a brief introduction on HIST’s work and its engagement with a wider network of organizations and experts in China and through its work with the International Coordinating Committee for PreahVihear World Heritage site (ICC-PV). Ms. Gurung expressed her gratitude for the invitation to visit HIST and put forth proposals for collaboration. Both sides agreed to mutually cooperate in the future as well.

The delegation visited the Satellite Operation and Management Department, the Airborne Remote Sensing Centre and viewed the demonstration video titled “Space Technologies for World Heritage”.
