2017 State of conservation reports now publicly accessible online

Date:2017-06-14

The full reports on these properties are now publicly available through the World Heritage Centre’ State of conservation Information System at the following Web address: http://whc.unesco.org/en/soc
As part of the Reactive Monitoring process for properties inscribed on the World Heritage List and on the List of World Heritage in Danger, each year the World Heritage Centre and the Advisory Bodies (ICCROM, ICOMOS and IUCN) prepare comprehensive reports on the state of conservation of some properties under threat, for examination by the World Heritage Committee.  On the basis of these reports, the World Heritage Committee decides whether additional measures are required to protect the property; whether to remove the property from the List of World Heritage in Danger if the property is no longer under threat; or whether it should consider the deletion of the property from the World Heritage List if the property has deteriorated to such extent that it has lost those characteristics which determined its inscription on the World Heritage List.
Since 1979, the World Heritage Committee has examined nearly 3,400 state of conservation reports, also available online at the above-mentioned web address.
