APSCO Concluded ‘Competition on Discovering Historical Cultural Heritage with Eye in Space’
The ‘Competition on Discovering Historical Cultural Heritage with Eye in Space’ was successfully concluded on 25 January 2022, via teleconference.
During the Opening Ceremony of the final stage of the Competition, Ms. Qi YU, the Secretary-General of APSCO, delivered welcome speech. She indicated the significance of the competition and its training for continuous capacity building of the experts from Member States, and sincerely appreciated the enthusiastic participation, learning and vehement competition from all participants. Dr. Ferhat Fikri ÖZEREN, the Deputy Secretary-General of APSCO, chaired the Final Competition.
The competition was co-organized by International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under the Auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the PIESAT Information Technology Co., Ltd. (PIESAT), the Belt and Road Aerospace Innovation Alliance (BRAIA), the Belt and Road Cultural Heritage Global Alliance (BRCHGA) and Commission on Geoheritage of the International Geographical Union (IGU-COG).

The competition duration lasted for two months which included training, preliminary competition and the Final Competition. The competition was divided into three levels according to remote sensing data processing, interpretation, which was based on comprehensive analysis and three dimensional (3D)/virtual reality (VR).
Picture 4 Simple Organizing Route of the Whole Event
More than 200 participants accepted training from 6 December 2021 to 7 January 2022. After first round of evaluation, 12 teams were selected, out of 68 teams from 11 countries of Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Iran, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, Romania, Thailand and Turkey. The Expert Committee Members for evaluating the competition works are constituted of 14 experts from Member States of APSCO and co-organizers of this event. The final 12 teams presented their Competition Works to the experts.
