HIST Held the 5th Session of its Governing Board

On January 26, 2016, HIST held the 5th Session of its Governing Board on the New-Tech Campus of AIR. The meeting was attended by Board members, director, deputy directors, secretary general, deputy secretary general and backbone research personnel of HIST, and also representatives from HIST's two Bases. The meeting was held to review HIST annual work report 2015, work plan 2016 and other working documents and to discuss issues such as how to promote the international development of HIST and give better play to the roles of Board members. 
Authorized by Prof. Ding Zhongli, Chairman of HIST Governing Board, Mr. Patrick McKeever, representative of UNESCO, chaired the meeting. HIST Director, Prof. Guo Huadong first extended warm welcome to all the Board members for their participation. Ms. Liu Jie, HIST Deputy Secretary General and Director of AIR International Cooperation Office, then briefly introduced AIR to the participants, mentioning that in the context of the Pioneer Initiative by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, AIR is exploring the possibility of establishing a “Centre of Big Science Facility”. In response to the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, AIR now pursues scientific cooperation with countries along the belt and road with great efforts.
HIST Executive Deputy Director and Secretary General, Mr. Hong Tianhua delivered the annual work report (2015) and the work plan (2016) of HIST in line with the 2013-2016 mid-term strategic plan and the 2015-2016 biennial work plan. Board members reviewed and approved HIST’s work in 2015 and its plan for 2016. 

Lastly, the participants discussed the international development of HIST, the roles of board members, and the first six-year evaluation of HIST, and offered constructive opinions and suggestions for the future development of HIST.
