International Training
The 3rd International Training Workshop on Space Technologies for Management and Conservation of World Heritage Sites came to a close on July 7, 2016. The closing ceremony was held at the spectacular Beijing International Convention Center on the sidelines of the summit meeting of the International Society of Digital Earth.
The workshop, which was organized by the International Center on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under UNESCO and jointly undertaken by CAS-TWAS Center of Excellence on Space Technology for Disaster Mitigation (SDIM), Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) under CAS, National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and European Space Agency (ESA), was aimed at providing world class, cutting edge training on the use of space technologies for world heritage management to 25 professionals from 12 Asian, African and East European developing countries, spread over 20 days.
The successful completion of the workshop was lauded by Chen Fang, Executive Deputy Director and Secretary General of CAS-TWAS SDIM. On behalf of HIST, Executive Deputy Director and Secretary General Hong Tianhua and Deputy Director Wang Xinyuan remarked on the spirit of teamwork and unity among the participants and congratulated the organizing team for efficient conduction of the training workshop. The highlights of the workshop were compiled into a video by the organizing team, which was very well received. The event concluded with the awarding of certificates to the participants by the guests of honor.
